Who Dares Wins

If you are now, or ever have been, a boy you will almost certainly find the SAS to be one of the coolest things ever. About a year ago i was going to a party at the RCA in west london and was completely blown away when my friend pointed out that we were walking past the Iranian Embassy (the scene of the SAS siege in the 80s).

When we got to the party drinks were only about £1.40 so i made the most of it. Great Night. Unfortunately, I did make the mistake of mentioning to a girl i was talking to "do you know how close we are to the Iranian Embassy right now?". Needless to say, she hadn't really thought about it before and wasn't too impressed by matters of mere proximity. I tried to qualify my enthusiasm by going into more detail about how ace the whole Embassy Siege was, but she didn't even stick around to listen. She picked up her bag, placed it between us and faced the other way...

Anyways, I still think it's pretty cool. Did you know that they rerouted every flight going over London onto a different flight path and made them go directly over the building at a much lower altitude than normal, and also made British Gas dig up the roads nearby so as to disguise the SASs movements and enable them to drill microphones into the rooms???? Amazing, huh?

You can watch a whole documentary about it here, and you can probably download it in full on Torrent, it's called "SAS Embassy Siege" and was made by the BBC so it's pretty good:
